LETTERS IN THE RAIN

Standard

BLURB:

Quite early in his life, Aman had been labelled a ‘weirdo’. His side-parted, oil soaked hair and gawky physique made him the butt of jokes among his peers. There is nothing spectacular in his life—he studies all day, has never had an interaction with a girl that lasted more than five minutes, and scribbles his inner musings into his best friend, a personal diary.

Deep down, however, the guilt of being considered a social killjoy by the society starts to have a negative impact on him.

When forced out of his solitary shell into the action-infused warehouse that is ‘college’, Aman’s life takes a drastic U-Turn. Owing to a Chemistry project, he is forced to partner up with Kiara—a cheerful, carefree soul who tucks away her dark, brooding past upon arriving in Manipal.

What follows is a series of awkward encounters and quirky adventures; ones that throw them in the deep end and make them face their worst fears.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

Anubhav Shrivastava completed a degree in Engineering before the writing bug struck him. His first book – One Last Time was released when he was twenty-three years old and was an instant bestseller. He is an active blogger and is enthusiastic about movies, fitness and good food.He has previously been invited as a speaker at various literature fests and colleges like BITS Pilani, ISB Hyderabad, Cambridge, IIT Kanpur, etc.

Ananya Roy is a second year student at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal. Hailing from Pune, she’s accustomed to lovely people and lovely weather.Intensively poetic and inherently clumsy, she strives to make the world a happier and more beautiful place to live in.

MY REVIEW :

“Letters In The Rain” is the second book by Anubhav Srivastava that I read. The only change this one had that it was a co-authored book. Honestly the author managed to impress me both the time.
The blurb of the book had madr it quite interesting and it will force the readers to turn the pages. The cover of the book could have been designed more better.

The book consists of two main characters Aman and Kiara. College Days always add many beautiful as well as bitter memories in everyone’s life. The same happened in Aman’s life as well. Always a school topper and talking less will people was what school days Aman used to be. He continued the same personality in initial days of college too but then with the passing of days they was a vast change in his personality. One could relate with many parts of the book and I bet many readers would relate to the whole story of the book.
In short, this book proved to be a perfect read for me. The less characterization gave more perfection to the story. The language of the book was quite simple to understand. Both the authors had worked great and done a marvellous job. Although, I has expected a different ending but still I loved reading each page. I would recommend this book to everyone who is reading this review.

HACKLYF

Standard

BLURB :

Hacklyf is an honest attempt to help people who want to live an exceptional life but is clueless amidst all the chaos. It`s an unchallenged fact that “Motivation never lasts”, and that is where this book will come in handy. It will provide you with continuous motivation through simple reasoning. A mélange of stories inspired by real-life events and short write-ups which will leave you inspired. There are plenty of activities dispersed throughout the book to help you grasp the ideologies and methodologies better. The writing is simple, crisp and enjoyable even for those who aren’t an avid reader. Unveil it and let it transform you.

MY REVIEW :
There are few books whose cover is so attractive that you are tempted to look inside the book. Adding cherry to the cake is the blurb of ‘Hacklyf’. The word ‘motivation’ encouraged me to read this book. Before turning to the main pages, I read “the book is dedicated to” section . That small dedication part by the author brought a big smile on my face.
The book contained twenty nine chapters within it. The best part was while reading few chapters as a reader I could connect it well. The quotes at the end of each chapter is another great section that I loved. This book teaches us how to live life. This is not the first self-help book I am reading but no doubt, this book taught me many new valuable lessons for life.
Overall, it was a short yet interesting read. The language used by the author is simple to understand. I would recommend this book to everyone because it won’t bore you and once you start reading you will get so much engrossed within those pages that you won’t know when the book ended.

RIVER RULE

Standard

The book is provided by <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/arudhaclub ”> Arudha Club</a> inexchange for a genuine review.

BLURB :

The jungle is closing in.
First it sends a welcoming party of parakeets.
Next, a garland of disembodied chicken parts.
Finally the tribesmen and their spears arrive demanding human trades of Avi and Una, the property developer’s firstborn grandchildren.
Twice before, the jungle tried to take Una when she took risks.
Twice Avi foiled their attempts.
This time he’s not there — yet she can feel him somewhere near.

River Rule is a dark, urban fantasy, which pivots precariously on the friendship between a boy and girl from different cultural
backgrounds. It deals with deceit and treachery, but it shows that, even when familial unconditional love is withdrawn, strength and kindness can be found elsewhere – even in a jungle.

MY REVIEW:

River Rule is a different kind of Book from all other books available in the market. Starting with the cover it has been designed amazingly. The blurb of the book just added the cherry to the cake. The blurb had that full energy to force one to turn the pages as soon as possible. The author chose a totally different concept. She very well knew how to maintain the interest of the readers. The starting of the book with accident made me a bit sad. But then after a few pages, the eyes remained opened and totally glued to each line of the book. The book holds the story of Una and Avi. It is not a just random story of friendship but has many secrets within each chapter. Never at a single point did I feel a bit bored with the book. The author has used very simple language. This book should be read by every age group. Overall, I completely enjoyed this beautiful book and unique friendship of Una and Avi.

ICEBERGS IN PARADISE

Standard

The book is provided by <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/arudhaclub ”> Arudha Club</a> inexchange for a genuine review.

BLURB :

There is a relationship between the eye contacts we make and the perceptions that we create in our heads, a relationship between the sound of another’s voice and the emotions that we feel in our hearts, a relationship between our movements in space all around us and the magnetic pulls we can create between others and ourselves. All of these things (and more) make up the magic of every ordinary day and if we are able to live in this magic, to feel and to dwell in it, we will find ourselves living with magic every day. These are the white spaces in life, the spaces in between the written lines, the cracks in which the sunlight filters into. Some of us swim in the overflowing of the wine glass of life, we stand and blink our eyes in the sunlight reaching unseen places, we know where to find the white spaces, we live in magic.
Icebergs in Paradise is a journey that will make you travel the entire world of emotions – starting it from joy to sadness, love to pain, fear to cheer and anger to tranquility. “

MY REVIEW :

“Icebergs in Paradise” is a collection of poems. The cover of the book completely matches with the title of the book. Among all the poems, there are few poems which force you to re-read them. The poet has maintained the balance of using words. Some are easy and for someone need to look up the dictionary. Some of the poems are quite long. The poem’ Secrets’ is one of the poems I liked the most. There are few lines in the poems which I loved a lot. I agree with the poet’s statement, “Between the head and heart, there’s a battle every day.” With some poems, I could connect well. There are some poems which were difficult to understand. “Sweet Wish” is another poem of which I loved each line. There are other two poems which I enjoyed reading i.e “Untold Emotions” and “To The Boy Whom I Adore.” The only thing I would like to suggest the poet is that he could have written short poems. Overall, each poem had its own meaning and it was a wonderful read.

MY REVIEW :

The Blue Jinx by Nisha Thakur is an interesting tale. I enjoyed reading this book a lot. The story started all over from a different point and with unlimited twists and turns; the story took a totally different turn. The blurb of the novel itself is gripping. The cover of the book is perfectly matching with the title and theme of the book. After reading the whole if one notices the cover once again, it feels that cover is saying it everything. Nikhil is a young boy who started his little startup of interior designing. He got one of his projects in Nashik and fate played its game. He had to renovate Mr. Hemant house. Mr. Hemant’s wife Shanipriya died years ago. Nikhil was told to stay in that room and he started suffering. Even he was unknown to what was happening with him. He then found Shanipriya’s death reports and told the truth to Samara; Mr. Hemant daughter. There were mixtures of incidents happening in this novel. I got to know the importance of The Blue jinx. The writing style of the novel is simple and it all easy to understand. Overall, it is an engrossing one time read.

Standard

BLURB :

Do you know the love story that the sea shares with the sea shore? The mighty sea travels with his companions; boats, sailors and the sea creatures together visit many destinations. When he gets tired from all his travels, he comes to the sea shore, and crashes down onto her, surrendering everything that he has. The moment he is relieved of his pain, he longs to go back, and the seashore lets him go. The love that Arun and Esha share is just like that between the sea and the sea shore. Their relationship is short and leaves Arun devastated. Could he have found love only to lose it all to fate? Will he survive the loss? The answers take him back to Esha, and to the realization that love comes in many forms. This story is a journey to love through friendship, from loss to hope.

MY REVIEW :

I found ‘Two Angels’s a cute romantic book but the end chapters broke me into pieces. However, ending brought a big smile on face but with heavy heart. The book totally justify the point that love is innocent. The cover of the book could have been more beautiful. The author very well knew the taste of the present readers and I must appreciate the fact that the writing style of the author is brilliant. She very well knew how to maintain the interest of the readers till the end of the book. No doubt, it is a love story but then the story and the characters have a different magic in them. I could connect the most with Arun, the main protagonist of the book. I know how difficult it is to adjust in new school. Lucky are those whose friendship remains same. As every love story faces challenges in their life and so the characters in this story had to face. The book showed the reality that life is not a bed of roses. Overall, I loved reading each page of this book. I would read this book once all over again as soon as I get time.

The main mantra of her life is, “Live life fully so that when you look back, you fall in love with the journey that you have made.”

MY REVIEW :

“Phases Of Moon” is the shortest book I have ever read but then within these few pages the author summed up everything quite well. The cover of the book is beautifully designed. The book is divided into three sections consisting of six,six and eight poems respectively. Among all the sections, I could relate to ‘Teenage Shower’ and ‘Emotions Unleased’. The reason behind is I have experienced these two parts of life. I have gone through these two phases and so I could relate more. What all a girl goes through in her life is penned down in this book as the title of the book itself says ‘ Phases Of Moon – A poetic journey Of A Girl. ‘ The pictures present in the book were so amazing. Each poem had a message within it. The language of the book was very simple. The author could have written it in more attractive manner. Overall it was a wonderful read for one time.
